If you're a real meme obsessive, meme-head, or frustrated internet artist, you'll understand that it doesn't take much for memes to get heavily referential. When you spend this much time exhaling heavily through your nose in appreciation and saving images in poorly organized folders, it's inevitable that you start to have some humorous thoughts about the matter that are also best expressed in memes. There is nothing that many memers enjoy more than pontificating about themselves, and memes about collecting memes are a perfect, low-stakes way of doing that. They are something that almost every funny picture enjoyer can relate to. So long as memes exist, they can also be considered kind of timeless in a way that other memes may not be. Our phone screenshot galleries are only going to continue struggling with the weight of carrying all these images that we can just never find when we want to use them.
